Welcome To The EnSoma Project

This is a space embracing the wisdom of embodied practice. Our aim is to explore the nature of our alignment with sensitivity and learn from exploration. We are not seeking to correct posture; standing, sitting or walking according to any pre-ordained external discipline. We are studying the nature of our own alignment, through a series of proposed experiments, questions, and explorations that may lead us toward the possibility of experiencing a fuller, more authentic connection within ourselves and the world.

How did you experience your alignment before you were taught about the 'right' ways and 'wrong' ways?

Before you were taught the 'right' ways to determine the placement of your head, neck, shoulders, back, hips, knees and feet, you may have possibly depended on your felt senses. Could you trust that something within you to inform your alignment?

Experiment

" It is not what you think should be,

but what is, that is interesting.

When you have the expectation that

something should be such and such a way,

you will never learn what your nature wants."

-Charlotte Selver

Might you find your way to standing.

So, close your eyes and just stand quietly for a moment.

Open and close your eyes as you feel like doing so.

Notice any fine changes in the musculature that you may begin to feel.

How is your weight distributing?

Where do you experience more muscle work involved?

And maybe as you stand, you can feel a change in muscle work that is needed or not needed.

Is there the possibility to come to a place where standing is easiest?

Take your time. Sway forward and back, side to side.

Be curious.

And when and if you find the place where it feels easy, are you somewhere toward your heels? or toward your toes? Weight shifted to one side or the other?

And can you feel anything in your breathing?

Does your breathing have anything to do with how or where you stand?

Where does your sense of standing start and end?

And when you have had enough of this exploration, would you notice how the felt reality of standing could possibly inform you and how you align yourself?
